The Totally
Tennis Schools programme has provided thousands of
local children with the opportunity to play tennis
through subsidised curriculum coaching and after
school clubs run at their school
Currently more than 20 local schools are involved,
including Brighton Hill Cummunity College, for which the
extensive tennis programme contributed to them winning HSBC
Schools Tournament Regional Final, two years in a row!
Totally Tennis also runs, in partnership with Brighton Hill Community College,
the Basingstoke Primary Schools and the Basingstoke Secondary Schools Tournaments,
and Basingstoke Primary and Secondary Tennis Leagues, where every year over 200
young players take part.
The Totally Tennis schools progamme has not only grown within the local community,
with coaches running sessions at the schools themselves, but also at the indoor
tennis centre at War Memorial Park.
Schools can take advantage of reduced off-peak (school hours) fees, encouraging
schools to bring players to the centre itself to take advantage of the excellent
indoor facilities at affordable rates.
Schools are also offered reduced rate coaching sessions at the centre during
the day which has been taken up by both a local primary and secondary school
who are both within walking distance of the centre.
Coaching and development has extended to school staff, with training programmes
designed and implemented for teachers from both primary and secondary schools to
lead to more continuity between coach-led and teacher-led tennis. |
